Proteomics technological platform

  Proteins are the major carriers of biology function. Following genomics, proteomics is an important research subject. The development of proteomics relies on improvement of 2-D electrophoresis, ESI-MS as well as invention of MALDI-TOF-MS technology and their application in protein analysis, and spring up of proteome-informatics. Proteomics technological platform of BGI integrated advanced proteomics study system, talents in protein research technology, bioinformatics technological platform and genomics technological platform. We aim at becoming an important research team in international proteomics research area.

  Proteomics is the major research direction of protein study group. We conduct proteomics research by following an all-dimensional and high throughput technological route, including 2-D electrophoresis, MALDI-TOF-MS technology, LS/MS/MS and protein chip. Based on these technologies, combined with sensitive bio-testing technologies, like ICAT, we established a proteomics research technological platform capable of undertaking large-scale research on important disease and biology resources, constructing proteome database with independent intellectual property, discovering disease related protein and biology marker molecule with important potential of practical use, studying pathology of disease, developing method to diagnose diseases in early stage and monitor treatment effect. Therefore we conduct research on disease and important biology resources in both proteomics and genomics aspects.

Protein separation and purification technological platform

  Protein study group gathered young talents with great research and development potential in protein separation/purification and immunology technology, equipped with state-of-art facilities, such as chromatography, electrophoresis, enzyme labeling instrument, ultraviolet/visible spectrophotometer and possesses workshop with GMP authentication. Protein separation and purification platform are capable of not only studying, preparing and producing antigen like proteins that is used as drug, but also providing proteins for other technological platforms. Protein separation and purification platform linked technology and speed together to establish a fast and optimized separation and purification technique.

High throughput protein expression technological platform

  Protein expression technological platform pursued high throughput and high speed. Based on gene cloning and expression technology, combined with large-scale screening technologies, such as array and bio-chip, we conduct huge amount expression of cDNA library, polygene or fragment to screen antigens, receptors, cell factors and other recombinant polypeptides or proteins that have market importance.
